Mission Australie - Part II

On ne se rend compte de tout ce qu'il faut prévoir qu'au moment de partir. Quelques exemples :

We do not get really confronted to everything that must be ready until the very last moment. This include:

- Faire une demande de VISA / Applying for a VISA
- Faire une demande de permis international / Requesting an International Driving Licence
- Faire une demande de bourse / Applying for a scholarship
- Prendre RDV chez : le généraliste, l'ophtalmologiste, le dentiste, etc. / Getting appointments with the GP, the ophthalmologist, dentist, etc.
- Prévoir sa trousse de médicaments et bien garder les ordonnances (non, je ne fais pas de contrebande de pilules !) / Preparing the drug-bag, and keeping every prescriptions (in case they think I am a birth-control smuggler!)
- Acheter un billet d'avion (aller simple pour le coup, 29h de vol) / Buying the plane ticket (one-way in this case, 29h flight in total)
- Vérifier non seulement le poids (20 kg, seulement), mais aussi la taille de ses bagages / Checking the weight (only 20kg are allowed) as well as the authorised size for the luggage
- Contacter un maximum de personnes susceptibles de nous donner divers "tips" / Getting in touch with as many people you may know and get some tips
- Chercher un logement (court et long terme) / Finding a short-term (and long-term) accomodation

Mission Australie - Part I

Il y a encore 1 mois je ne savais pas que je partirais. J'étais en pleine préparation de mes vacances en Grèce, mais loin de moi l'idée de partir aussi rapidement à Brisbane...

I did not know I would be leaving only in a month time. I was getting ready for my holidays in Grece, and I was far from imagining that I would be living soon in Brisbane...

Coup de fil, alors que je profitais des (fabuleuses) plages grecques, me confirmant l'offre de Griffith University et me demandant si j'avais déjà acheté mon billet d'avion.

I received a phone call; while I was making the most of the (fabulous) Greek beaches, confirming my enrolment at Griffith University, and asking me if I had bought my plane ticket yet.

Réponse : "Heu... C'est pas un peu trop tôt ??!!??", et bien non puisque l'offre concerne un début d'année scolaire pour... Juillet 2009...

Answer: "Hum... Isn't it a bit early for that??!!??", as a matter of fact no since the offer was for me to start in... July 2009...
